PROJECT 01
Yura Yura is a food delivery app offering a curated selection of Japanese ready-to-eat meals, drinks and sweet treats. I developed the concept and visual identity, with a focus on creating a premium feel, intuitive navigation and a seamless ordering experience.

Background and
challenge
The brief was to design an express food and grocery delivery app, including five mobile screens and a tablet adaptation. Targeting busy urban customers, the challenge was to create an intuitive shopping experience that made it easy to discover products, navigate categories and complete an order quickly.
Process
I started by exploring existing delivery apps, food concepts and visual references to shape the direction of Yura Yura. The design process began with wireframes for the product page, focusing on structure and functionality before making visual design decisions.
Once the wireframes were established, I developed the visual identity through typography, colour and AI-generated imagery. AI was also used as a tool to review early wireframes.
The design evolved through several iterations, particularly around the homepage hero and category navigation, balancing a premium visual feel with clarity and ease of use.
Key insights
01.
STRUCTURE FIRST
Building a solid foundation through research and wireframes helped guide later visual decisions.
02.
CONSISTENCY MATTERS
A simple design system for typography, spacing and colour helped maintain hierarchy and consistency.
03.
DESIGN IN CONTEXT
Testing colours and layouts with actual imagery revealed the need for earlier visual experimentation.
Solution
The final design combines clear visual hierarchy, two-level category navigation and consistent product layouts for a straightforward ordering experience. Quick-add options let users add products to their cart, while a restrained colour palette and typography reinforce the visual identity.

Reflection
Looking back, I would approach the design process with more flexibility, testing layouts, colours and imagery together at an earlier stage rather than refining each element separately.
Revisiting the design today, I also see opportunities to improve accessibility and simplify the home screen. I would review contrast and touch target sizes, and test the two-level category navigation with users to understand whether it supports intuitive navigation.
